Enjoy the little things

Hello everyone. Today’s post features another of the stamp sets that Barbara had on yesterday’s HobbyMaker TV shows – the triangle people. These fab characters come in three sizes (A4, A5 & A6) – I’ve gone with the middle sized A5 set on this card, pairing them up with one of the Tall Feel Good sentiments using one of the new Painterly Landscape cards for my background.

I started with one of the Painterly Panoramic cards (loving the soft abstract tones on these), cut it to square and stamped the little couple with their brolly (or maybe parasol?) onto it with ‘watering can’ Archival ink (it’s a bit softer than black against the pastel tones).

I added one of the Feel Good sentiments and then thoght about how best to colour my little couple. I didn’t want the background to show through them (although that’s a good way of making images look like they’ve got texture), so decided to stamp them onto an offcut of the pastel rainbow paper that had the right blue & green tones to then fussy cut their clothes & umbrella and paper piece them using Pritt glue stick. I did then also add a little shading to the paper with blue & green Polychromo pencils (‘skyblue’ and ‘earth green’).

I do love little birds flying in the sky (I think they finish a scene so well) so grabbed the two images from the new Mini Landscapes stamps. I ran round the topper edges with a grey Sharpie and took the remaining bit of my pastel rainbow paper for a mount – it wasn’t wide enough for the whole topper, but I do like the effect of a partial piece on one side (and it’s a great way to use up offcuts!)

I think this is such a good metaphor for life – we can get so busy that it’s easy to miss the little things that can bring us joy (and I count my small grandson amongst those!) He was given a balloon this week and has had a wonderful time just playing with it, taking it for walks around the room, etc!

Thanks for dropping in – I’ll be back with another offering tomorrow.
