Hello crafty friends. It’s Tuesday and time for our new theme at CAS Colours & Sketches, where I’ve picked a palette that looks perfect for spring themed cards! It gave me the opportunity for an early peek at a new set of stamps that Barbara will be launching on HobbyMaker TV tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1pm – meet the SHAC Bouquet stamps! I love these oversized bunches of flowers with the little figures to carry them, they’re just so quirky! Now the stamps are not yet released onto Clarity’s website as I’m writing this, so I’ll add all the details here once they are available.

I took a piece of Clarity’s 6×4.5″ premium card and trimmed the short side to 4″ so it would sit perfectly on a 7×5 card blank, then stamped the bouquet of roses and lilies onto it using black Archival ink. I could then add the little figure holding them tightly.

Time to break out my Polychromo pencils to shade them in using ‘coral’ from the Winter set for the roses and my little lady’s dress, ‘cadmium orange’ from Autumn for the lilies, ‘may green’ from Summer for the leaves and ‘cream’ from the Essentials set for the paper wrapping. I then used a dry blending nib to smooth out the pencil colour and added the sentiment from the stamp set.

Next was to create an embossed frame around the image using a rectangle embedder and shaded a little ground under the figure with the ‘may green’ Polychromo. To finish, I simply added a mount of green Waimea Falls companion paper and attached it to the 5×7 card blank.

So, what have my colours inspired you to create – will you go floral or find a different route? Hop over the the CAS C&S blog for more inspiration from the rest of the design team and then come and play along with us. And there’ll be more inspiration to see from the Clarity design team when Barbara’s on HobbyMaker TV tomorrow afternoon.
Mean while, I’m off to share this card with a few challenges, having picked up ‘pastel’ and ‘bloom’ from Time Out’s ‘choose two’ options. Allsorts are looking for ‘anything but square’ (this card’s a rectangle) and I’m also adding it as another contribution to Beautiful Blossoms‘ gallery.
