mini lighthouse landscape

Hello everyone and welcome to another look at the new Waterside Mini Landscapes stamps. I’ve kept it simple, but not quite as minimalist as yesterday’s offering! This time I opted to just use one of the images, the lighthouse, as the central focus on my card with a die cut border and inking the landscape around it.

First, was to cut the topper out using one of the smaller Lattice Doodle Frame-it Panel dies from an offcut of white card. I could then stamp the lighthouse image onto it with black Archival ink.

Next was to add the colour to the scene, after I’d protected the die cut edges with low tack tape. I started with the clouds mask from the Build a Scene set, sponging ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide across it to create my sky. There aren’t pre-cut masks with these stamps, so I used small torn bits of low tack tape to cover up each section, sponging ‘uncharted mariner’ into the water area with ‘evergreen bough’ and ‘mowed lawn’ on the land areas.

I used a grey Polychromo pencil to colour the path and add a slight shadow to the lighthouse, then highlighted the stripes with a red Perga Colour pen. Having stamped the sentiment and the little birds into place, I simply attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank.

I’m going to share this card with a couple of current challenges, having used the palette from Color Dare and the ‘anything goes’ option from We Love Stamping

Thanks for dropping in! This little scene evoked memories for me of a coastal hike I did with my friends three years ago when we were in Australia – we spent several hours following the trail from Port Macquarie in New South Wales to the Tacking Point lighthouse. This is the view we had when the lighthouse first came into sight – great memories of our holiday adventure, fortified by chocolate TimTam biscuits!

  1. Love this, and I can totally see how it reminded you of the scene in the photo! I remember your trip to Australia and it sure doesn’t seem like it was three years ago already… time flies for sure!
