Good morning everyone and welcome to this week’s Seasonal Saturday post, featuring our new challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Branka has challenged us to use only white on this week’s cards, so it was the perfect excuse to break out one of my old Craft Club dies, which last saw action over three years ago! The Ivy Leaves Aperture die is, however, still available on Clarity’s website as a back issue.

Anyway, on to my card! I started by cutting the ivy leaves into a 3.5″ square of Clarity’s premium card, then backed it with a piece of their double sided adhesive – you have to be careful with this as it’s super sticky, so you only get one shot at getting it into place! It’s also good to remember to put down the piece of backing sheet you’ve peeled off to lay the card face down on, otherwise it will stick to anything & everything on your desk (ask me how I know…!). I embossed a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder and a ball tool and then added the topper to it.

I scattered Perga glitter over the card front (I used ‘hint of silver’) and rubbed it onto the exposed adhesive sheet to make sure it was fully covered. The finishing touch was to glue the centres of the ivy leaves, which the die cuts out, into the bottom corners of the topper and add a word sticker between them.

I must admit, I am rather partial to white-on-white cards, although I don’t make them so often. I did have a look back through my blog posts to see when I last used this die – it was over three years ago, and I did a fully white design then (although without the glitter) and a second one with touches of gold. Next time I use this, I’ll have to go for a more colourful take on it!
I’m sharing this card with a couple of other challenges, starting with Peace on Earth (another Christmas challenge). Having realised that it’s over 3 years since I last used this die, I’m also going to enter it in Neglected Stuff‘s gallery.

Your card has a reveal wow factor Deborah. What a great idea to use the pieces the die cut out of the centre of the leaves – I hadn’t realised that’s what they were at first. They remind me of how ice crystals form and spread and make everything so pretty. I love how you used embossing in the background instead of adding an extra layer – I must give this a try. Gill x
