More cards than Christmas at As You See It Challenge 370

Hello crafty friends and welcome to our new theme at As You See It challenge, where we want to know what cards you send most of during the year (other than Christmas!) Unsurprisingly, it’s birthday cards for me, added to by the fact that I make and manage the birthday cards for one of the church groups I belong to! That gave me a pretty wide remit for my DT card, and I reached for the Small Butterflies & Stand die set that Paul is airing on HobbyMaker TV at 1pm and 5pm today (UK time)

I had a bit of a play with these last year (check it out here) and this time opted to use the Rainbow Parchment & Paper Duo for my butterfly. I cut the open butterfly into a piece of the parchment, and the base into a matching piece of the paper. Now the dies are designed to fold the butterfly down the centre and slot it into the stand – I wanted it as a topper on my card, so cut the diecuts down the middle then layered them together (overlapping the bodies) and attaching them with Perga glue so the butterfly sat flat. The other thing you can see here is how the paper intensifies the colour of the parchment.

As so often, I was working backwards with this design, but then found one of the Landscape Backdrop Print 7×7 cards that had complementary tones for my background and trimmed it down. I framed it with a piece of navy card that I’d cut with the Lattice Doodle Frame-it Panel die and attached it to a 7×7 card blank. I glued the butterfly into place on the card, added two of the sentiments from the Art Deco set and finished with a few navy gems that I found in my stash.

So why not head over to the As You See It page, check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team and then come and share with us the type of card you post the most. We always love to see what you all create.

Meanwhile, I’ll be watching Paul’s shows on HobbyMaker TV and sharing this card with a few current challenges – Word Power, Seize the Birthday and Love Those Pretty Papers, all of whom have an ‘anything goes’ option.
