Hello friends. I’m back with another look at the new mini Japanese Scene Builder stamps that launched yesterday, this time keeping it very CAS and just using neutral tones.

I started by cutting a piece of premium card to 3.5″ by 2.5″ (the size of an ATC) and laid upper part of the mountain section from the ‘Black Forest’ page in the Build a Scene Masks set. I brushed ‘antique linen’ Distress Oxide across the lower part of the card, then shaded the mountain and hills by sponging black and ‘shadow grey’ Archival inks down from the mask. After I lifted it off the card, I dry brushed (without picking up any more ink) the ‘antique linen’ across the top of the card to soften the white.

Next was to stamp the scene of three little houses in black Archival. I coloured them with the ‘antique linen’ and a waterbrush, shading the roofs and the leaves with grey Polychromo pencils and highlighting the little moon with a fine white Posca pen.

I sat the little cat on the roof and added the sentiment, then popped the topper on a mount of black card. I had some ivory card sitting in my stash, so made my own A6 card blank from that.

I’m really pleased with how well these muted tones worked for this little scene – that could be Mount Fuji sitting in the background.
I’m going to share this with a couple of challenges which are looking for CAS cards. AAA Cards have got an optional twist of ‘animals’ (cue the cat on the roof) and Simply CAS speaks for itself!
