Good morning everyone and welcome to this week’s Seasonal Saturday card thanks to our new theme at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where we’re looking for cards featuring Candy Canes. Now this posed a bit of a challenge for me, as I couldn’t think of any Clarity sets that featured a candy cane, but after a bit of hunting through my stash, I spotted the little one in the Nutcracker stamp set. I decided to put it to use with a few of the other accent stamps in the set and built a wreath!

I found a piece of card in my stash that I’d already embossed a frame on to using a square embedder and a ball tool (I think it may well be from one of last year’s Open Days – incidentally tickets are already on sale for the June ones this year!) I drew myself a circle pencil guideline for my wreath and stamped the fir branch and candy cane alternately to form the basis, using ‘library green’ Archival ink for the leaves and ‘potting soil’ for the canes, shading them with the ‘rose carmine’ Polychromo pencil.

I carried on building the wreath with more of the accent stamps – the little trio of leaves which I coloured with ‘pine green’ Polychromo, the snowflakes in ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide and the little swirls in the ‘potting soil’.

I finished with one of the I Am Essential- Christmas sentiments, again using ‘library green’ and then simply attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank.

I’m so pleased I spotted the candy cane in the Nutcracker stamps – it makes for a different style of wreath (and another one that I think could be good for a spot of batch making). Check out the rest of the DT inspiration over on the 52CCT blog and then come and share your candy canes with us.
