Hello crafty friends! It’s time for another new theme at CAS Colours & Sketches and Joanne has given us a great sketch to play with. I’ve still got the Dotted Dragonflies stamps on my desk, so it gave me another excuse to play with them – happy days!

So, let’s quickly run through my process on this one. I started with an offcut of white card and trimmed it to fit on the top half of an A6 card blank. I popped a moon mask on the side and then brushed ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask to create my sky.

I swapped the moon for the outer part of the mask, then gently brushed yellow in from the card edge to give me a soft sun – I didn’t bother reinking my stencil brush for this, just used it dry with the yellow that was already on it.

I added the large dragonfly in ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then shaded a little ‘cobalt green’ Polychromo pencil into it’s wings to highlight them, plus a little Wink of Stella to make them shimmer (I can never get that to show up on a photo!). Having attached the topper to the A6 card, I finished with one of the KISS word stickers, which I’d edged with a black Sharpie.

In other news, this little blog is six years old today! I started it after I’d retired from full time work, thinking I’d post a couple of times each week. Well, it’s grown and grown – I now try to share a card every day, helped by the fact that I’m also now on the Clarity Design & Demonstrating Team (the third anniversary of that is coming up in a couple of months too), plus the DTs for several blog challenges. In fact, it’s a whole new career!
Speaking of other challenges, I’m sharing this card with Just Add Ink and Allsorts, both of whom have got ‘wings’ as their themes. And we’d love you to come and play along with us at CAS Colours & Sketches too with your take on Joanne’s sketch – just remember to keep it CAS with lots of lovely white space¬

I love that you are crafting now more than ever – such a joy to read your daily posts, even if I don’t always have time to stop and comment! Here’s to the next 6 years!!
