Butterfly love for As You See It Challenge #368

Goodness, here we are at Friday again – doesn’t it seem to come round quickly? And it’s also the start of our next challenge at As You See It, where Joanne has given us a great sketch to play with. I decided it as the perfect excuse to reach for one of my favourite sets, the Peace Japanese Flowers & Butterflies stamps, focusing just on the lovely main round image.

I opted for a rainbow of colours on this one (you’ll see why at the end of this post), and pulled out a range of Polychromo pencils from my sets, having first stamped the flowers & butterfly image onto a 3.5″ square of Clarity’s premium card.

I then spent a happy half hour shading in the image – red, orange & yellow for the lotus flowers, green for the leaves and frame, with blue, indigo and violet on the butterfly, not forgetting a pale blue for the background. All seven rainbow shades accounted for!

I found a toning piece of companion paper for my mount in the Amazonia set, then attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank, finishing with one of the KISS word stickers.

And now you can see why I chose those colours, thanks to the themes at The Paper Players and Colorful Options! We’d love you to get busy creating with our sketch, too – you can find more inspiration from the rest of the design team over on the As You See It blog to help get you started too.
