12 Days of Christmas at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown 26-07

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Seasonal Saturday card courtesy of our new challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where Andreja has given us Letters and/or Numbers for our theme. This was an easy one for me – I went straight for the Bijou 12 Days of Christmas stamp set, with all these wonderful images hand drawn by Barbara.

So, here’s my process. I cut a piece of card slightly smaller than a 5×5 card blank, drew a pencil guideline down the centre and lined up the 2 and 5 stamps for the top row, stamping them with black Archival ink. I could then add the 1 and 2 onto the bottom row, giving me 25/12 for Christmas Day.

I cut a frame edge into my topper with one of the Nested Square Doodle Aperture Frame-it dies, then set about colouring he images with my Polychromo pencils. Thanks to Professor Google I found the right colours for a grey partridge (bottom left) and a European Turtle Dove (top left and bottom right). I used a combination of metallic Polychromos and metallic gel pens to shade in the gold rings.

I left it without a background mount, so that the frame remained white and the numbers drew the eye, Having attached it to a 5×5 card blank, I simply added one of the Celebrations and Christmas word stickers across the centre of the card.

So that’s a partridge in a pear tree, two turtle doves (with one on each number!) and five gold rings on my Christmas card. I based it on the layout sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments and am also going to share it for the ‘winter’ theme at The Four Seasons challenge.
