Hello there. It’s the weekend again and I’ve got another Seasonal Saturday offering for you with our new challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and it’s a great sketch from Andreja M. I’ve gone quite literal with it this time round – it gave me the perfect excuse to get my Winter Build a Wreath stamps out again (I love these sets!)

I worked on a piece of card cut to fit on an A6 blank together with the A4 Circle Aperture Mat. I lined up one of the circles, masking off the other apertures and running low tack tape across the centre of the one I wanted. I then sponged ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide into the aperture, before realigning the stencil and gently adding ‘weathered wood’ to put the circle behind the blue image.

I ran low tack tape across the rim of what was now a blue bowl, and then set about filling it with plants from the Winter Build a Wreath set using ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide. I then added in a few of the small poinsettia using ‘kitsch flamingo’.

I grabbed one of the rectangle nested embedders but, instead of embossing a frame, this time I used it as a template to draw a border with a micron pen. I added a couple of the Christmas Occasions sentiments, together with a sprinkling of little stars from the Build a Wreath set, again in the ‘kitsch flamingo’, and simply attached it to the card blank.

Are you making your Christmas cards through the year? It’s never too early to start and we’d love to see how our sketch has inspired you – come and share your creations in the 52CCT gallery. I pulled a few other challenges together on this card too, starting with the palette from Color Dare. A new-to-me challenge, Christmas Cards All Year Round is looking for things starting with C or D on our cards, and I think my circles fit that one. Finally Simply Clean & Simple have got an optional twist of ‘greenery’ for their current challenge.

Funny, I can comment if I do it on my laptop, but not from my phone. Love this card – cool use of the stencils and stamps.
