Stencilling with landscape masks at ATSM

Hello again everyone – it’s time for our new theme at Addicted to Stamps & More and this week it’s to use diecuts and/or stencils on your creations. That gave me another perfect opportunity to use one of the new Round Landscapes masks from Clarity, but this time keeping it to pink and grey tones for a card more suitable to Valentine’s Day.

I started in the same way with the mask as I did with the one I shared earlier, first lining up the outer mask (this time on a 5×5 piece of card) by laying it face down / sticky side up, and lining up the card on it so the circle was centred. I could then piece in the different parts of the mask – I started from the top on this one, so I had the lake area straight across the horizon.

Having placed all the mask pieces onto the card, I once again worked on one section at a time, removing it to sponge Distress Oxides into place, then replacing it before removing the next one. I used ‘picked raspberry’, ‘kitsch flamingo’, and ‘saltwater taffy’ for the landscape and sky, aiming to get a contrast between each shade for each section, and using ‘weathered wood’ for the lake.

I used a circle embedder as a template to draw a frame around the stencilled image with a micron pen, then added two swallows from the Stamp Pen Birds set and one of the Quotes Set 8 sentiments. Having embossed a frame onto a 7×7 card blank with a large square embedder and a ball tool, I mounted the topper on a layer of grey card and attached it to the card blank.

This came together really well – the tones from AAA Colourful really led the way for me. The swallows and sentiment have given me a second opportunity to share in The Paper Players gallery, and the new optional theme at Stencil Fun is to create your own background. What do you think?
