Art Deco square frame

Hello crafty friends. I’ve got a first look at some more new goodies coming from Clarity Crafts tomorrow, when Barbara will be launching some lovely new Art Deco frames on HobbyMaker TV between 2-4pm. I went with the square set on my card (there are also round ones), keeping it simple with a little pencil colouring for a sympathy card.

My starting point was a 3.5″ square of stencil card, onto which I stamped one of the frames at an angle to form a diamond pattern. I then shaded in the different sections of the pattern with various shades of blue Polychromos – ‘bluish turquoise’, ‘light phthalo blue’ and ‘sky blue’, using Dorso oil on a blending nib to smooth the pigment out.

I used a small square embedder and a ball tool to emboss a frame on the inner edge of the stencil card square, then added a layer of Northern Lights companion paper, stamped one of the Art Deco sentiments in the centre and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I really didn’t think this needed any further embellishment – the detail on the frame stamp is just so lovely. I’m going to share this in the gallery at Colorful Options, having picked up their blue & white colour scheme, and with Simply Clean & Simple for their ‘use something new’ option. So don’t miss Barbara on HobbyMaker TV tomorrow with these lovely new images – she’s got a 2 hour show, so there’ll be lots more inspiration.
