R for Ribbon at Alphabet Challenge

Hello crafty friends. I’m kicking off Friday with our new challenge at Alphabet – we’ve reached R and Billie has given us ‘ribbon’ as the theme. Now, you’ll know that I don’t usually add ribbon or other embellishments to my cards, so Clarity’s Bijou Ribbon Sentiments stamps came to my rescue! I also want to introduce you to Alice, another of the fab figures in the new Friends, Sisters & Angela collection, which Barbara is showcasing again this morning on Clarity Social TV.

I started by stamping the small Alice figure in black Archival ink onto one of Clarity’s small 3.5″ squares of stencil card, then added the birthday ribbon sentiment to overlap her. I then spent a happy few minutes shading Alice with my new Faber Castell Polychromo pencils (I used the Winter set), smoothing out the colours with a blending nib.

I used a small square embedder to emboss a frame around the edge of the topper, then added a mount of the 4×4 Rainbow River companion paper and popped it onto a 6×6 card blank.

So, in addition to our ‘ribbon’ theme at Alphabet Challenge, I’ve drawn a couple of others into this card. The beautiful dresses in the inspiration photo at Time Out challenges are reflected by Alice’s lovely outfit and the birthday sentiment works for Word Power.
