Silent night, holy night

Hello friends! Well, it’s Advent Sunday and so the countdown to Christmas is officially on (despite the shops trying to persuade us that it started in September!!) I’ve got a bit addicted to hot foiling on Clarity’s laser printed toppers and have a last demo from Friday’s shows to share with you. I’ve once again taken one of the larger toppers from the Autumn/Winter Skies pack, this time paired with the Build a Landscape – Christmas stamps.

The first step was to hot foil the topper using the silver foil, which gives the most gorgeous sheen in the sky. I added one of the Christmas Rub-On sentiments across the bottom, which would then give me a guide for placing my Bethlehem scene as the background fades out at the bottom, rather than having a definite edge to it.

I wanted to run the little Bethlehem scene right across the topper, which entailed stamping it twice. I masked both sides of the topper with low tack tape, which made it easier to stamp the image twice without trying to exactly hit the edges! I added the larger star from the set into the sky as well, all with black Archival ink.

In order to fit the topper on a 6×6 card blank (they’re 6 by 4.5 inches) I found a couple of offcut strips of Antarctica companion paper, trimmed them to the right length and glued them down either side of the card front. I could then simply add the topper in the centre (and didn’t waste a load of companion paper beneath it where it can’t be seen anyway!)

I do love the ombre effect of these toppers and the added foiling really takes them up another notch. I’m sharing this one with Addicted to CAS for their ‘metallic’ theme, plus the ‘anything goes’ options at Peace on Earth and Merry Little Christmas.
