Paloma Poppet

Hello crafty friends – I hope you’re all having a good weekend. There’s a Poppets Party starting tomorrow over at Clarity Crafts so I thought I’d make an early start on the fun with one of the Christmas Poppets postcards. Meet Paloma and her little friend – the printed images on the postcards come in two sizes ready to colour and this is one of the smaller ones (the larger ones cover most of the postcard).

I set to work colouring the image with my new Faber Castell Polychromo pencils, which Clarity are now stocking in custom made sets – I took the ‘ultramarine’ and ‘violet’ from the Winter set and the ‘cobalt green’ from the Summer one. I doodled the ground line with a micron pen, then added a grey shadow with a couple more Polychromos.

I carried on with the grey Polychromos to add a drop shadow around Paloma and stamped one of the I Am Essential – Christmas into place. The postcards are 5×7 and I trimmed a narrow portion off so it would fit on a 5×7 card blank, running a black Sharpie around the edges before I attached it.

I’m playing along with a few blog challenges with this card. I took the palette from Color Dare and the ‘sweet’ theme from Addicted to CAS. Sparkles Christmas Challenge are looking for ‘festive wear’ (Paloma is definitely ready for the season) and her lovely wings work for ABC Christmas. Join Barb & Paul at 2pm tomorrow (Monday) on Clarity Social TV for more inspiration with the wonderful Poppets!

  1. Adorable image. I love the colors you chose – sort of a frosty look. The sentiment is perfect for our SWEET challenge. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS.
