Christmas church

Hello everyone. I’ve spent part of today finishing of some of the pile of toppers I’ve got following my two days of demonstrating at Clarity Crafts Open Days and I think this little scene is definitely one of my favourites! It’s another use of the Woodland Scene stamps and Autumn/Winter Skies toppers, but this time pairing them with the little church from one of the Build a Landscape sets and some delicious foiling!

I didn’t take step-by-step pics for this one (not with a group of people stood at my demo table watching me make it!), but it’s a very simple process. The first step was to hot foil one of the tags from the Autumn/Winter Skies set in Rose Gold – Clarity’s laser printed backgrounds work so well with foil. I then stamped the images into place over the foiling – the small trees from the Woodland Scene set, the church from Build a Landscape and the sentiment from the I Am Essential – Christmas set, using black Archival ink for all of them. I grounded the church and trees by sponging a little ‘shadow grey’ Archival across a torn piece of copy paper and ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper before attaching it to a 5×5 card blank. I used a square embedder to create the frame, lengthening it by just embossing the top half to start with, then moving it down the card for the lower part (I had the topper already in place for this so that I could line it up exactly).

The foiling just looks speckled in these photos, but here’s a closer angle so you can see that fabulous sheen!

Now, I said that I’d been busy over the weekend, so here are a few more variations on this design that I made whilst demoing. Half the toppers in the skies set have moons and half are without, which gives lots of options even when using the same three stamps on them all.

I thought I’d share these with a few current blog challenges. The Paper Players have got a CAS theme with Christmas images, the tones on my main card pick up those in the palette at AAA Colourful and the layout is a slightly loose interpretation of the sketch at Atlantic Hearts.
