CAS Colours & Sketches 573 – my colours

Hello crafty friends. It’s time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches – I’m hosting this month and decided it was time to go with a potentially festive palette featuring red, green & gold! It gave me an excuse for a final play with Linda’s Floral Rounds, turning one of the images into a sparkly bauble (and I have now put them away for a while!)

I went for a one layer design on this one, starting by embossing a frame onto a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder. Next was to stamp one of the floral images with Versamark clear ink and heat emboss it with WOW’s super fine gold powder; I then added the little bauble topper from another Christmas set that I think is no longer available on the website (sorry! When I find the details I’ll add them in…) I switched to the matching silhouette stamp, inked that up with the clear Versamark and then heat embossed it with WOW’s clear sparkle powder.

I shaded in the flowers and leaves with red & green Pergaliner pencils, then used a gold Posca pen to hang the bauble on a string. Finally I added the two curved sentiments from the set to complete the picture.

I really love the effect of the heat embossing on the image – with the colouring it almost looks embroidered! You’ve got until Monday 26th November to play along with these colours at CAS C&S and I’m popping this into a few other galleries for Christmas themed challenges as well. It picks up the left-hand column of ornament, red & Christmas sentiment at TicTacToe, my favourite seasonal holiday for Time Out and the usual ‘anything goes’ theme at The Holly & Ivy.
