ivy baubles

Hello friends! I’ve got a quick break between my Clarity Social TV shows, so dropped in to share the final demo from my 10am show which was a bit rushed! I used the silhouettes set from Linda’s Floral Rounds for this card, turning them into a couple of Christmas baubles hanging from the leafy strip stencil.

I started with a piece of Antarctica designer paper that I’d cut to 5×5 inches, laid the stencil across the top and anchored it down with low tack tape. I then sponged ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxide through it (being careful not to move the inner strips on the leaves), deepening the centre with a little ‘lucky clover’.

Next was to stamp the ‘baubles’. I started with the ivy circle one, sponging a combination of the ‘evergreen bough’ and ‘lucky clover’ onto it and planting it below the leaves. I gave the ink a few minutes to dry, then covered it with one of the pre-cut masks that come with the set (so helpful!), inked up the triple ivy stamp and added that over the first one, so that it looks like it’s sat behind. I wiped the ink off the mask that was sat on the first stamp, then added a second mask over the new image, so that both were covered. I could then go round them to add a drop shadow with ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink and a sponge. I lifted the mask off the rear bauble so that I could put the shadow between it and the first one as well. It’s very subtle shading but helps make the images look 3D.

To finish, I used a green Pergacolour pen to draw in the bauble strings and edge the designer paper (I used a ruler for both these). I then added the small sentiment from the set with the green ink and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

And that was it! These round stamps are so versatile – I’ll be back on Clarity’s YouTube channel at 2pm with a few more ideas for using them. Before then, I’m going to share this one with a couple of blog challenges – Merry Little Christmas and Love Those Pretty Papers
