fractured card for Love to Craft Challenge

Hello again friends. I’m back with the start of the new challenge at Love to Craft – as always our theme is ‘anything goes’. You may recall the print I pulled from my gel press earlier this week when adding colour to Clarity’s new Festive Leafy BOW-WOB papers (check it out here)- well I’ve put it to use for this card. I’d also seen several of these fractured cards on social media and decided to have a go at making one myself.

First was to cut the print down to 5×5 inches. I cut a small square of scrap card and stamped the Scots Pine image onto it with ‘peeled paint’ Distress Oxide, adding a bit of pencil shading to it before attaching it to the print.

I cut four narrow strips of grey Shenandoah companion paper and started to glue them into place around the topper. The trick with these is to line the end of the strip with the corner of the topper each time – and glue works best as it gives you a bit of wiggle room to get them lined up precisely.

Having got all four strips in place, I cut them level with the card edge, added a mount of the Shenandoah paper, attached it to a 6×6 card blank and finished with a couple of the I Am Essential – Birthday sentiments.

I’m really happy with how this turned out, especially with the effect of the gel print in the background. Do come on over and play along with us at Love to Craft – don’t forget, ‘anything goes’!

  1. I’ve always liked this particular design and have done a few of my own. I love the paper and how you made it this way. The image is perfect in the center.
