O for Oval at Alphabet Challenge

Hello everyone. I’ve got a busy blog day today, starting this morning with our new challenge at Alphabet, where we’ve reached the letter O. Helen has given us a double theme this time round – we’re looking for Ovals and One-word sentiments. I took the opportunity to give Clarity’s new 5×5 Festive Leafy BOW-WOB papers another outing with my gel plate and a bit of die cutting. I’ve pulled in the top left diagonal from TicTacToe as well, with my leafy design paper and die cuts, plus the free option.

Starting with my gel plate, I brayered ‘mermaid lagoon’, ‘lucky clover’ & ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxides onto it, then laid the BOW-WOB paper down to pick up the colours before printing what was left on the gel plate onto a piece of stencil card.

I used a nested oval die to cut the stencil card, before diecutting Barbara’s name from the BOW-WOB paper using the Woodblock Print Alphabet dies. I then glued the letters into place across the oval, using a strip of low tack tape to give me a guideline for getting them straight.

I mounted my printed oval onto a layer of black card that I’d cut with the nested picot cut oval dies and added it to the front of a 5×7 card blank, with a strip of the BOW-WOB paper on either side.

I have to say, these papers are such much more versatile than they first appear. I’m a bit hooked on adding colour to them! But anyway, do come on over to Alphabet Challenge and share your oval & one-word creations with us.

  1. FABulous card! It’s been literally ages since I’ve played with my gelli plate. I’m always inspired to get it out and play when I see other people’s projects using one and then I forget about it. I need to make another list of gadgets I want to get out and play with, lol! 😉
