miniature nativity

Hello friends. Today’s card features another of the stamp sets that Barbara was showcasing on HobbyMaker TV yesterday – the nativity miniatures. I think these are a perfect set of Christmas stamps and I particularly love the little nativity scene (it’s a regular participant on my Christmas cards!) For this card, I took inspiration from a couple of current challenges – the layout is from The Paper Players and the colours from Sunday Stamps (I went with the blue, green & black from their palette).

The first stage was to take one of Clarity’s small squares of stencil card – I brushed ‘salvaged patina’ and ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxides onto it to pick up the Paper Players’ sketch.

I then stamped the nativity scene and star into place with black Archival ink, adding the weeny star clusters from the Winter Build a Wreath set.

I added a mount of black card that I’d cut with the Lattice doodle frame-it panel dies, plus one of the I Am Essential – Christmas sentiments. All than then remained was to attach it to a 6×6 card blank.

My Christmas card making has definitely gone up a gear now, and this is another design that can be easily replicated for making batches.

  1. This is such a clever interpretation of my sketch Deborah and it makes for a beautiful CAS nativity card. Thanks for playing along with my sketch challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

  2. What a sweet scene and so deftly created! I think this is a very clever use of the sketch. The dark, lacy frame is a fantastic way to draw the viewer in to the scene. Thanks for sharing with us at The Paper Players.
