Hello friends. I’m glad it’s Friday and so the end of a very busy week – I’m planning to get a bit of downtime with the family over the weekend. First, though, I’ve got another car to share with you using one of the Bijou Woodland Art Block stamps – I used one of the larger stamps in this range earlier in the week which prompted me to find this set.

I’ve incorporated a couple of challenges into this card – Color Hues have got purple & orange this time round, which also fits with the ‘halloween colours’ theme at Double D. I don’t do Halloween cards, though, so opted for a bit of a different take on the colours.

I started with a background from my stash – one of Clarity’s small squares of stencil card that I’d used to clean orange inks from my brayer. I then simply stamped the toadstool image onto it with black Versafine Clair ink.

I wanted to ‘ground’ the image, so doodled a line each side with a micron pen before shading it in with orange and purple Pergaliner pencils. I also used the purple pencil to add shading along the ground line.

It then occurred to me that the black background for the toadstool looked a bit like a cave, so I added more shading around the edges to push it further back. To finish, I simply added the bunny from the stamp set, edged the topper with a black Sharpie and popped a couple of word stickers into place. I sat the topper on a 5×5 card blank that I’d embossed a frame onto with a square embedder.

The little bunny is looking very inquisitive about the large toadstool…!

The toadstool alone is so cute but your additions with coloring and drawing in the horizon line really made it pop. And you finished things off so nicely with the cute bunny and the wonderful sentiment. So sweet, Deborah! Thank you so much for joining us at Color Hues!
