CAS Colours & Sketches 571 – autumn colours

Hello friends. It’s time for our next challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and we’re back to colours this time round. Suzy’s given us a fab palette of autumn shades (although they’d work with floral and lots of other designs too). I decided to make an autumnal birthday card for my friend, Shirley using the new Open Alphabet masks & Build a Background stamps collection from Clarity.

Staring with a piece of Clarity’s 3.5″ stencil card, I positioned the S mask on it and lightly brushed ‘carved pumpkin’ Distress Oxide over it to outline the letter. I then started adding the background using one of the images from the ‘sun & moon’ build a background set (I thought it looked a bit like a flower)

I then built the rest of the background around the letter using the ‘leaf silhouettes’ stamps in ‘carved pumpkin’ and ‘candied apple’. Obviously, when you then remove the mask, you’ve got a lovely white letter outlined.

I added one of the Bijou Retro Sentiments with ‘watering can’ Archival ink across the centre, then popped the topper onto a piece of Indian Summer companion paper. I used one of my favourite square embedders to emboss a frame onto the front of a 6×6 card blank and sat the topper within it.

I’m so pleased with how this turned out – I think these letter masks are going to be really useful! How will you use our colours at CAS C&S? You’ve got until Monday 27th October to play along with us and we’d love to see what you create. Meanwhile, I’m off to share this card with Seize the Birthday for their ‘anything goes’ option, together with the ‘autumn’ theme at both The Four Seasons and Stamping Sensations.
