M for Mythical Creatures at Alphabet Challenge

Welcome to our new theme at Alphabet Challenge, where Tee has given us M for Mythical Creatures. I need to get back to my personal challenge for 2025 of making one Christmas card each week – obviously my holiday interrupted that, but I’m guessing the production rate my step up over the next couple of months to compensate! Anyway, the point of that is to say that I opted to use one of Clarity’s Christmas Poppets (this is Presh) on my DT card – I love these little fairies. So, having decided to go for a seasonal card, I picked up the T for Trees theme at ABC Christmas, together with the general Christmas themes at Merry Little Christmas and Addicted to Stamps.

I stamped Presh onto a 5×5″ piece of stencil card and cut a mask for her from Clarity’s blank material. I then added the tree from Linda’s Home for Christmas set in ‘library green’ Archival to sit behind her. Now it was a bit smaller than I wanted so I covered it with a mask and then restamped the lower part beneath it to make it taller – the key to doing this is to line up the edge of the tree with the stamped image.

Keeping all the masks in place, I lightly brushed ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Ink into the background.

I grabbed my Pergaliner pencils to shade in the images, using the design on the packaging for Presh as my inspiration. I framed her with a mount of Amazonia companion paper that I’d cut with one of the lattice doodle frame-it panel dies and simply popped her onto a 6×6 card blank. The final touch was one of the I Am Essential – Christmas sentiments.

So, what mythical creatures have you got sitting in your stash? Time to get them out and share them with us at Alphabet, me thinks…

  1. Love the softness of your coloring! That masking was such a perfect way to get easy color behind your images. Thanks for playing along with the Christmas challenge on the Addicted to Stamps & More Blog! Cathy ATS&M DT
