Hello again! I’m back with another new challenge, this time it’s at As You See It and it’s one of our infamous speed challenges! That means you have just 10 minutes to complete your card (start to finish) and this one’s on the theme of leaves. Helpfully, the August set from Clarity’s Craft Club is this lovely little leafy set so that got put straight into action!

Two more challenges to draw together into this one as well, with the tones from Color Dare and the CAS theme from Inspire.Create.

So, no step-by-step photos for this one (not with only 10 minutes on the clock!) The rules for this challenge is that you can gather everything together before you start (always a challenge itself for me, as I tend to ‘evolve’ my cards as I go along!) Once you add ink to a stamp or begin to cut your paper, however, your clock has to start.

I started with a 4×4 inch square of stencil card (I’ve got a whole pile of these cut for demoing at the Open Days earlier this year) and quickly ran low tack tape around the edges for a border at half the tape width. I lightly brushed ‘saltwater taffy’ Distress Oxide onto the card, then popped the outer part of a moon mask into place and brushed more of the pink into it. I’d already mounted my stamps, so inked the solid leaf with ‘uncharted mariner’ Distress Oxide (it’s a lovely dark teal, but has come out more blue in these photos) and stamped it twice along the bottom piece of low tack tape to look like the ground. I then added the taller leaf into the centre, popped one of the All Occasions Rub On sentiments into place, ran a black Sharpie around the card edges and attached it to a 6×6 blank (after removing the low tack tape!)

And that’s where I stopped the timer on my phone – feeling pretty pleased with my 7 minutes 39 seconds, but my goodness these speed challenges really get the blood pumping!

Are you up for our challenge? We’d love to see what leafy creations you can produce within 10 minutes – don’t forget to tell us exactly how long you took.
