Hello crafty friends. As well as getting lots of inspiration over the last two days at Clarity’s summer crafting retreat, I also came away with some new goodies (not surprise there!) including my own sets of these fab new personalised stamps, which Clarity have kindly gifted to the design team. There are two sets to choose from – the seasonal garlands and cute Christmas, and the brilliant little images work well on their own as well as with the personalised stamps, which is what I’ve done on today’s card.

I decided to combine an image from each set onto today’s card, starting with the Christmas bough from the season wreaths, stamped in black Archival onto an offcut of white card. Taking the cute little penguin, I covered the bottom section of his partial frame with masking tape once it was on my stamp mount, then inked him up, removed the tape and added him to sit on the wreath.

I added colour to the wreath and penguin’s hat using several shades of green thanks to my favourite Pergaliner pencils. Once done, I cut the card down with one of the lattice doodle frame-it panel dies (I find it easiest to do this after stamping the images so I can centre them exactly with the die).

I decided to pop a mount of Toscana companion paper behind the die cut, cutting it to the same size so it just showed through the frame. I added one of the gold Christmas rub on sentiments, attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank and finished by dotting the berries in the wreath and the bobble on the penguin’s hat with a fine gold Posca pen.

So I managed to pull a few current challenges together into this week’s Christmas card, starting with the CAS critters theme at The Paper Players. Staying with the CAS angle, I also picked up the green from AAA Cards and ‘squares’ from Addicted to CAS – in addition to my square card and topper, the lattice frame has squares in it (they’re on their side so look like diamonds!) Finally, the seasonal theme works for The Holly & Ivy.
