backdrop background

Hi everyone. I’ve had a fab (but tiring) day at Clarity’s summer crafting retreat, with more fun to come tomorrow. There are no spoilers here, though, as the workshops are being repeated on Wednesday & Thursday so, instead, I’ve got another of the 2024 retreat backgrounds to share with you. This one was made by sponging inks onto the circle backdrop stamp and I’ve then created a little scene with a few of the Mega Build a Landscape stamps

I’ve incorporated a couple of challenges into this one, with the ‘no flowers’ theme from Seize the Birthday and an entry into Neglected Stuff’s gallery given that this background has sat in my folder for the last year!

So, here’s a quick look at my background. I’d sponged the inks onto the larger circle backdrop stamp, then used an embossing ball tool to create the effect of the plants and spritzed it with water before stamping it onto a piece of stencil card.

Having run a black Sharpie around the edges of the stencil card, I stamped a few of the build a landscape images in black Archival for my country scene. I didn’t want my sheep to be black so used a white Posca pen to dot their fleeces. I then added one of the Birthday Rub On sentiments and attached the topper to a 7×7 card blank.

It’s so simple to make quick cards when you’ve got backgrounds sitting ready in your stash and I’ve still got quite a number from previous years, let alone my new creations over the next couple of days! I do need to get better about putting them all to use…
