bright butterfly

Hello everyone. I’m busy getting ready to head off to Kent tomorrow to spend a couple of days at the annual ClarityCrafts retreat on Monday & Tuesday. I decided that I really should sort out my project folder from last year, when we were busy making backgrounds – one year on, it’s definitely time to get these into action! This one was made by brayering inks onto a piece of Clarity’s coated cardstock, spritzing it with water and using cling film to move the ink around before letting it dry.

This background picked up the pink & green from Color Throwdown’s palette as a starter and I used the Japanese Peace Flowers & Butterflies stamp set to pick up the layout from Freshly Made Sketches. Additionally, Just Us Girls have got ‘birthday’ as this week’s theme and Stamping Sensations are looking for birds, bees or butterflies.

The original background was on an A6 piece of the coated cardstock so I cut it down to a square and stamped the butterfly circle image into the centre with black Archival ink. You have to be careful not to slip on coated card!

I shaded the image with Pergacolour pens, which give a really vibrant look on the coated card. I found the nearest tones I could to CTD’s palette of hot pink, peach and green, leaving the outer part of the circle clear.

I ran a black Sharpie around the card edges so they didn’t look white, then attached it to a 6×6 black card blank. The final touch was to add one of the KISS word stickers and it was done.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve got another of last year’s backgrounds to share with you tomorrow.
