blue Liberty

Hello crafty friends. I’m still working though my samples from Clarity’s new Sketchy stamps launched last Friday – I just love the variety of looks you can get with these landmark images. I’ve kept it very CAS today on a watercoloured notecard, picking up the shades of blue theme from Color Dare

My starting point was to create an embossed frame on the front of an A6 card blank using one of the pop-out pieces from the rectangle aperture mat A4 stencil – it was exactly the right size. I then stamped the small Statue of Liberty image into the frame and watercoloured her. I used the direct-to-card technique, roughly shading the image with Pergaliner A (aqua) pencils and then spreading the pigment out on the card with a waterbrush.

I thought it needed a little more to soften the image, so simply scribbled a light blue aqua pencil around the statue and again blended the colour out with a waterbrush.

And that was it! I didn’t add a sentiment – I rather liked the arty notecard style I ended up with.

  1. This is wonderful, Deborah! Years ago, I took the Staten Island Ferry to and from work every day. I never grew tired of seeing the Statue of Liberty. Thank you for sharing at Color Dare.
