Sketchy London

Hello crafty friends. Well, I missed sharing this card yesterday – we had such a busy day moving my son’s girlfriend out of her shared accommodation and it wasn’t until I sat down at 10pm that I remembered I hadn’t posted this (and by that time I’d run out of steam!) Anyway here it is now and it’s another way to use the new Sketchy stamps from ClarityCrafts. I’ve kept it closer to home with Big Ben on this one, pairing it with the Royal Celebration stamps and picking up the ‘circles’ theme from Inspire.Create

Starting with a square of stencil card, I stamped the larger of the two Big Ben images in black Archival ink, then covered it with a mask that I’d cut from Clarity’s blank material. I thought it would look fun with the circular images from the Royal Celebrations set behind it, so first stamped the cityscape in ‘cobalt’ Archival, then added the Union Flag in the centre – this is a two part stamp and I used ‘red geranium’ as well as the ‘cobalt’.

Having shaded Big Ben with a grey Polychromo pencil, I stamped ‘London’ a couple of times onto the background then added a third one on a scrap of white card. I found a co-ordinating mount in the Amazonia companion papers. Taking a 6×6 card blank, I used a square embedder to emboss a frame onto the front and then attached the topper to it.

I really like this design with the circular cityscape behind Big Ben – these iconic image stamps are a lot more versatile than they seem at first glance!

  1. This is great. I really like the patriotism of the Union Jack on that celebration circle. These days I’m a firm believer of overt patriotism. Big Ben screams Great Britain and London to this Ex-Pat.
