it’s a mixed bag

Hello crafty friends. I’ve got another of my demos from yesterday morning’s Clarity Social TV show to share with you today, using another of the sets from Sam’s Shapes. This time I went for a bit of pattern building using both the stamps and stencils from the it’s a mixed bag set – where the other three sets are based around single shapes, this one has a bit of a mixture (hence the title!)

So, I started with a piece of stencil card that I’d cut down to fit on an A6 card blank and masked part of it off with low tack tape. I started with the smaller shapes stencil and sponged ‘squeezed lemonade’ and ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxides through it. I swapped it for the larger shapes stencil and lightly brushed a little more of the ‘squeezed lemonade’ through it, then repositioned it and brushed ‘bundled sage’.

Having removed the stencil and all the tape, I doodled a line along the edge of the stencilled panel with a micron pen, then stamped two of the images from the set into the panel – the heart in a square and the swirly oval.I edged the topper with a black Sharpie, popped it on an A6 card blank and finished with one of the Pinky Gray word stickers.

I made a second card as well, this time using ‘salvaged patina’, ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxides and a KISS word sticker that I cut into three sections.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve pulled a few challenges together with these cards, starting with the inspo list at Festive Friday (I went with stencil, friend sentiment & hearts). My yellow & green card took the tones from Color Hues, the pink & blue one used Color Dare‘s inspiration photo and they both came together for Just Us Girls‘ stencil week
