purple poinsettia

Hello friends – I’m back with this week’s Christmas card offering and this time I’ve gone for non-traditional colours, although I have used a seasonal stamp from Tina’s Christmas Angels elements set.

I was inspired by the sketch from my bloggy friend Catherine, aka InkyFingeredCat, who’s running a ‘Christmas in July’ challenge all month, as are Addicted to CAS this time round. I took the palette from Creative Colour Challenges, althogh my tones look a little darker than the ones in their inspiration pic. Finally, it’s also going into the gallery at Peace on Earth, which needs no explanation!

So, keeping it nice and simple, I took a 6×6 kraft card blank and started by embossing a frame onto it using one of the additional pieces from the square A4 aperture mat stencil – they are great for using as additional embedders when the sizes in the main set aren’t quite right! I then stamped the corner image from the angels set twice using black Archival ink.

I went with the closest tones to Creative Colours palette that I could find in my Pergaliner pencils to shade in the images, finishing off with one of the Christmas & Celebrations word stickers.

And that was it! I’ve had a busy day today, prepping the demos for my Clarity TV shows on Friday as I’m working tomorrow. Check back in tomorrow for an early look at some of the stamps I’ll be showcasing…

  1. This is such a pretty card Deb. The colours are great and these days one does see flowers that are not the traditional colours as they add dye to the soil.
