more foiling…

Hello crafty friends! I’ve got a second Christmas card to share today after playing with Clarity’s hot foil kits and Christmas BOW-WOB papers yesterday, in anticipation of Paul Church’s show with these (and a new kit) at 2pm today on HobbyMaker TV.

This card used the sketch from Sunday Stamps and the ‘Christmas in July’ (yes, that is a thing in the crafting world!) theme from Addicted to Stamps & More

I’d foiled one of the BOW-WOB sheets of small wreaths , using the negative ‘waste’ foil on a piece fo the teal paper from the pack. Now, this foiling didn’t go quite as well as for the card I shared yesterday – I got a couple of creases in the wax carrier sheet when putting it all through my laminator, which meant there were lines on the teal foiled piece. Not one to waste anything (and banking the learning experience), I ploughed on with it…

I decided to cut out three of the small wreaths to use with the sketch and initially cut them out with a small circle die. They didn’t look right, though, so I grabbed my scissors and fussy cut them – much better!

On to my background – I found a piece of Antarctica companion paper that was the same shade as the laser printed piece that I’d foiled. After dancing round my craft room for a minute or two, I got back down to work and cut a couple of strips from the gold & teal foiled piece to run down the paper, gluing them into place with a Pritt stick, I was going to add a mount of gold card, then realised that would be a good way to use up my imperfectly foiled paper – the pattern from the wreath on the narrow border disguises the fact that it’s also got crease lines on it!

I popped the background onto a 5×5 card blank and added a gold Rub On sentiment. The wreaths looked empty when I lined them up, so it was out with my Winter Build a Wreath stamps to add a little poinsettia in the centre of each with ‘bluebird’ Archival ink.

Well, I learned a lot with this one! I’ll be watching Paul on HobbyMaker at 2pm for more tips & tricks with these (and to get a look at the new kit that’s launching) – see you there!
