summer days at Sparkles Challenge

Hello crafty friends. The sun’s still shining here (although the temperature has thankfully dropped back down to the seasonal norm after the recent heatwaves) and we’re celebrating ‘summer days’ with our new theme at Sparkles Challenges. I pulled out another piece of the fab backdrop prints from Clarity and once again just added a few images to a quick and easy card, this time using the birdhouse garden (which I don’t think is currently available) and stamp pen birds sets.

There’s a few challenges around at the moment with summer themes, including The Four Seasons, plus this works for the ‘anything goes’ theme at We Love Stamping

Once again, I chopped up one of the 7×7 backdrop prints – I went with the top left piece for today’s card.

I added the birdhouse in the corner using ‘watering can’ Archival ink (sad it’s not longer available, it one of my favourite – and oldest – sets) followed by two of the swallows from the stamp pen birds. If you’re wondering why they’re called that (‘stamp pen birds’, not ‘swallows’!!), it’s because they’re designed to fit perfectly on Clarity’s stamp pens – obviously!

No surprises here on my finishing technique – ran a black Sharpie around the edges, embossed a frame onto a 5×5 card blank with an embedder, attached the topper in the centre and finished with the sentiment from the Bijou Entwined Summer Wreath. Perfect!

And obviously there are two swallows soaring on this card because of the quote (attributed to Aristotle) ‘one swallow does not a summer make’…!
