cake, cake, cake

Hello friends. It’s Monday again, but every day is a good one for cake, right? I’ve got a simple offering today using one of the images from Clarity’s Stay Calm Drink Tea stamp set and a perfect quote stamp from Set 7 (I love these wood black effect inages).

Once again I’ve combined a few challenges together in making this card, starting with the inspiration from AAA Cards who’ve challenged us to CASE Tristan’s DT card. I also picked up pink, yellow & a food sentiment from Festive Friday‘s inspo list and a focal sentiment for Word Power.

I took the main principles of Tristan’s card, but stripped it back for my design. Starting with a piece of card cut to fit on an A6 card blank, I first used a rectangle piece of stencil material to emboss a frame in the centre – my rectangle embedders weren’t the right dimensions for the sentiment but I had a flash of inspiration and remembered the rectangle A4 mat stencil. The great thing about these A4 stencils (I used the circle one yesterday) is that you get the pieces that were cut out for the apertures included – and one of them was the perfect size to use as an embedder! I could then easily stamp the cake quote inside it using ‘shadow grey’ Archival.

I stamped the small piece of cake onto a scrap bit of card, coloured it with pink & yellow Pergaliner pencils and fussy cut it. I added a mount of pink companion paper, attached the topper to the A6 card blank and glued the cake into place (moving it to the opposite end from Tristan’s butterfly, as it looked a bit odd floating at the top!)

So that’s cake cards two days running – luckily they are both calorie free!
