Hello friends. I’ve dipped back into Clarity’s Craft Club today, heading to 2018 and this fabulous cherry cupcake stamp for a rather scrumptious birthday card. Once again, I’ve woven a few challenges into this one, starting with the red & white palette from Color Hues (neutrals are allowed) and the layout from Freshly Made Sketches. Seize the Birthday‘s theme is food or drink and as it’s been a while since this stamp saw the light of day (February 2022 in fact) I’m also heading over to Neglected Stuff with it.

So, here’s my process. I stamped the cupcake onto a piece of scrap card, shaded it with Pergaliner pencils and fussy cut it.

Next was to sort out the background. I used half of a 5×5 card blank (from a previous failed project!), lined up one of the circles from the A4 aperture mat stencil, laid the ‘frayed lines’ stencil from last month’s craft club over it and brushed ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide through them. I repositioned the circle stencil over the two corners to add more of the ‘pumice stone’ then added a couple of the Birthday Rub On sentiments.

I added a highlight to the cherry with a fine white Posca pen, then went over it with a WOW embossing pen and heat embossed it with clear powder for a lovely gloss. (I had intended to do that with Glossy Accents but, it’s so long since I used it, the nozzle was completely blocked & I couldn’t shift it!) I ran over the icing with the WOW pen as well and embossed that with clear sparkle powder. Finally, I ran a black Sharpie around the card edges, attached it to a 6×6 card blank and popped the cupcake in place mounted on a bit of scrap card.

Here’s a close up of that glossy cherry and sparkly frosting to tempt you further!

This is so creative, Deborah. Love the way you stenciled the three circles to go with the sketch. Of course the cupcake looks scrumptious too. Thanks for playing at Color Hues.

I agree on how creative this is. Your stencil use is amazing and the cupcake is the icing, so to speak.
