Hello crafty friends. I’ve got a busy DT day today, starting with our new theme at Alphabet Challenge, where Tee has given us G for Girlfriend. It was a great opportunity to get the Hippie Chicks back for another outing, this time with a little paper piecing and added inspiration from TicTacToe (CAS, summer colours & any sentiment), Four Seasons‘ summer theme and Make My Monday who are also out for summer fun.

So, the first thing was to stamp one of the Chicks twice onto the front of a 6×6 card blank, overlapping them (I didn’t need to mask them off as I was going to paper piece them). I popped the outer part of a moon mask in place and lightly sponged ‘dried marigold’ & ‘picked raspberry’ into it for a summer sun, then turned to one of my favourite mask sets – the Build a Scene. I sponged ‘broken china’ across the clouds for the sky, then switched to ‘mowed lawn’ for the shrubs and ground.

I found a lovely blue & pink offcut of Waimea Falls designer paper, so stamped my Chick on it twice turning the second one upside down to get a contrast of the colours. I fussy cut their hats, tops & trousers, highlighted the flowers on their hats with a white Posca pen, then glued it all into place using Pritt glue stick. A little Pergaliner shading for their skin and hair, followed by a Pinky Gray word sticker to finish.

These girlfriends are certainly out celebrating the sunshine, and look like they’re getting ready for another music festival – there are several more to come over the summer!

I do love this stamp set and wish it were easier for me to acquire some of these products. You did a wonderful job on the colouring and like Lynda, I think this is funky and fun.
