snowflake corners

Hello friends. There’s another heatwave on the way for the UK this weekend, so I decided to channel cooler thoughts with this week’s Christmas card (although I don’t think these snowflakes would last very long outside!) It’s another very simple card using Clarity’s Christmas Corners stamp set and a bit of sparkly heat embossing. I picked up the ‘sparkle & bling’ theme from Sparkles Christmas Challenge plus ‘anything goes’ from Peace on Earth.

It’s another one layer card, using a 5×5 blank, and my first step was to draw pencil guidelines through the centre to give me four quadrants. I stamped the snowflake corner image in ‘mermaid lagoon’ Distress Oxide and heat embossed it with WOW’s clear sparkle powder. I then repeated that into the other three quadrants, giving me a lovely central image.

I left the card to rest (the heat embossing always warps it), before rubbing out the pencil lines. I found an appropriate word sticker in the KISS set, mounted it on a scrap of Waimea Falls paper and popped it onto the centre of the card.

I really like the pattern these snowflakes make when you build the corners together. Here’s a close up as well to pick up a bit more of the sparkle.

  1. At first I couldn’t figure out how you did it but of course you explained it well. I think it is a brilliant design and the card looks lovely
