silhouette frame butterfly

Hello there. I’m late posting this evening, but I’ve just been running out of energy in this heat! I seriously don’t know how the tennis players at Queens are coping – or maybe I’m just getting old! Anyway, I opted for some summery colours for a simple butterfly card today, using one of Clarity’s Just Butterflies & Bees silhouette framer stamps and picking up the butterfly theme from Make My Monday and the colours from Creative Colour.

Whenever I’ve used this collection of stamps in the past I’ve stamped the silhouette frame in black or grey before adding colour to the image. Well, today I went for a different look and stated by stamping the frame in ‘mustard seed’ Distress Ink onto a 5×5 card blank (I used a sponge to get the ink evenly distributed on the stamp).

I left the outer part of the butterfly white and simply added colour to the detail on the wings with a couple of Pergaliner pencils, blending the pink and blue in together.

I wanted to frame the image further, as I wasn’t using a topper and mount, so used the outer edge of one of the nested circle embedders to emboss around the butterfly, finishing with an appropriate KISS word sticker.

Clarity’s Summer Half Price Members’ Sale is into it’s final weekend – I must admit, I’ve snuck a couple of cheeky orders in! Is there such a thing as ‘too much’ in a craft stash…?!
