summer wreath

Hello friends. I make no apologies for being back with another card using the build a wreath stamps, as this is another of the designs I was sharing at Clarity’s Open Days at the end of last month (it does make a change from the Winter stamps, though!)

I picked up the colours and flower theme from the right-hand side of the moodboard at Hand Stamped Sentiments (they’re so pretty!) The Flower Challenge are looking for embossing on cards (check out my embedders) and Allsorts (a new-to-me challenge) want to know what makes us happy – no surprise for regular readers here that it’s stamping, especially with the Build a Wreath sets!

I haven’t got step-by-step photos to share on this one, but here’s a quick rundown on my process. I drew a pencil circle onto one of the 3.5″ squares of stencil card, chose two of the flowers from the summer wreath set and stamped them alternately around the circle in ‘saltwater taffy’ and ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxides. I then took the leafy spray stamp and added that between the flowers with ‘hickory smoke’, stamping it outwards at right angles to the circle, rather than following the line – I did the same coming in towards the centre with one of the little swirls as well.

I used a small square embedder to emboss a frame onto the small topper, then added one of the Rub On sentiments in the centre. I used a larger embedder to create a second frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank, then mounted the topper on a piece of Rainbow River companion paper before attaching it into place.

It’s a bit difficult to see the two embossed frames on the photo above, so here’s a close up for you.

I’m nearly done for now with the Build a Wreath stamps – but not quite, as I’ve got one more to share tomorrow! I really must put them away then and focus on some of my other stash!

  1. Deborah, I have never heard of ’embedders’ until today! I LOve the idea and the results as they frame your pretty wreath just beautifully!
