Hello crafty friends. It’s less than two weeks now until Father’s Day, so I thought I’d better crack on with sharing another of my creations using Clarity’s sport frame stamp set – this time with a cricketer ready for the English summer season.

Helpfully, Festive Friday have got Father’s Day as their theme this time round, and I’ve taken clean & simple, geometric design and masculine sentiment from their inspo list. The Four Seasons challenge have now moved on to summer, so a cricket theme fits the bill perfectly.

My starting point was to create the frame of cricket balls with the stamp from the sports set. I drew myself a pencil guideline using the inside of a nested square embedder and then repeat stamped the cricket ball inside it using ‘red geranium’ Archival ink.

I next used the clouds mask from the build a scene collection, brushing ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across it to create my sky, I stamped the batsman from the wee sports people set (he’s larger than the one in the sports frame stamps) and grounded him with another of the masks and a little ‘mowed lawn’.

I embossed a frame around the edge of the topper with a square embedder, then used the next size up to add one to a 5×5 card blank. I then ran a black Sharpie around the sides of the topper and attached it to the card blank, finishing with one of the bijou retro sentiments.

I think one of my sons will be sending this to his father, who is a very keen cricketer.
