Hello friends. I thought I’d share the first demo from this morning’s Clarity Social TV show where I made this fab 3D butterfly – and very unusually for me there is no inking or stamping anywhere on this little project! I simply used the large butterfly dies set, which are part of Clarity’s kaleidoscope of butterflies collection with some designer parchment.

My starting point was with a piece of the Toscana companion paper – I cut one of the pink 8×8 sheets into half and then glued the two pieces together with Pritt glue stick. That gave me a double sided sturdier piece of paper from which I could then cut the large solid butterfly die (it will just fit onto the 4″ paper). I then used the pierced butterfly die to cut from a co-ordinating piece of the Toscana parchment before gluing the two die cuts together, using Pergaglue on the body area. The advantage of gluing the paper together before die cutting it is that you get a precise shape – if you cut the two pieces separately and then glued them together, it’s quite tricky to line them up exactly with each other (as me how I know…!)

Next was to glue an offcut of pale blue paper (picking up one of the other tones on the parchment) onto a piece of stencil card and then cut the stand out with the third die in the set. I added a Pinky Gray greeting sticker onto the stand too.

It’s an easy matter to then crease the stand along the fold line and sit the butterfly in the slot – the slot is cut deeper on one side than the other, so the butterfly will sit at an angle, ready to fly off.

This is such an easy project – these are lovely little cards to send , but would also make fab table decorations for weddings or parties! And just to continue sharing the love with this little flutterby, I’m going to add her to the galleries at Cardz4Galz who’s theme is ‘things with wings, Time Out who are also looking for our favourite winged things (and I do love a butterfly!) and finally another B for Triple B
