C for Circle at Alphabet Challenge

Hello friends. I have to say Friday does seem to come round very quickly each week, but that’s OK as it means it’s nearly the weekend! Let’s focus on today’s cards first though – I’m starting the day with our new theme of C for Circle at Alphabet Challenge. I went for three circles on my card, using one of the images from Clarity’s Japanese floral tiles stamp set together with the colours from The Paper Players

I first cut a piece of stencil card to fit on a 5×7 card blank and drew myself a pencil guideline down the centre so I could line up my tiles. I started by stamping the middle outline floral image, then added the other two either side. I initially shaded the floral circles with Pergaliner pencils but thought the colours were too muted so went over them with Pergacolour pens. The green turned out darker than I intended though – I wish I’d just done the flowers with the pink pens and deepened the pencil shading for the green, but such is life!

Now, that’s not the only thing that didn’t go as intended! I stamped one of the Occasions – Happy Birthday sentiments above the image directly onto the card but it didn’t stamp properly! I managed a rescue by stamping it and one of the supporting sentiments onto strips of white card, edged them with a black Sharpie and glued them onto the topper. I added a pink mount of companion paper and attached the whole piece to the card blank.

It was definitely starting to feel like ‘one of those days’ as I was working on this card, but I got there in the end! Hopefully you’ll have a smoother process if you come and play along with our circle theme at Alphabet Challenge!
