Guest designer at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown – red & green

Hello there and welcome to this week’s Christmas card (despite the fact that it’s a beautiful spring morning outside!) – number 19 of 2025! I’m delighted to have been invited along as guest designer for the latest challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, with the perfect seasonal colour combination of red and green. I haven’t played with the Pergamano Poppets from Clarity for a little while now, so decided it was time Pru came back out into the daylight.

I started by embossing a frame onto the front of a 6×6 card blank using one of Clarity;s square embedders. I then stamped Pru into the frame, together with the holly spray from the SHAC holly framer set. The spray is actually much longer than on my card – I masked part of it off with low tack tape before I inked it up. The other helpful thing about Clarity’s stamps is that you can realign them a little, so I straightened the holly spray slightly once it was on my mount to sit down the side of Pru. The stamps spring back into shape once taken off the mount. Having stamped the images, I shaded them in with Pergaliner pencils – as you can see, I pretty much followed the inspiration picture that comes with the stamp

I added shading to Pru’s hat, skirt and wings with a light grey Polychromo pencil, then highlighted the stars and the bells on her hat & boots with a silver metallic gel pen and finished with the sentiment from the little Christmas corners stamp set.

Do check out the rest of the inspiration from the 52 CCT design team and then why not come along and join in the seasonal fun? You won’t be surprised to know that I’ve also pulled a few other challenges into this card! I took the layout from Freshly Made Sketches, and the Christmas themes from Addicted to Stamps & More and Merry Little Christmas.
