silhouette butterflies

Hello friends. It’s been a bit of a full on day today, so I’m just popping in to share a quick card with you using Clarity’s just butterflies & bees silhouette stamp set – love these gorgeous images!

I thought of this stamp as soon as I saw the sketch at Sunday Stamps and Color Dare‘s luscious tones are perfect for butterflies. I’m also dropping this into the gallery at Simply Clean & Simple – you all know it’s my favourite style!

So here’s the quick process. I cut a piece of card to fit on an A6 card blank and stamped the butterfly image onto it. I double inked my stamp for this to make sure I got a solid black, putting Archival onto it first, followed by Versafine Clair which is more juicy. It was then out with my trusty Pergaliner pencils to shade in the butterflies – I blended three tones onto each of them to get a good depth.

I used a couple of grey pencils to add a drop shadow around the butterflies where they overlap the background, then edged the topper with a black Sharpie and attached it to my A6 card blank. I then stamped the sentiment from the set onto a strip of white card, cut it at an angle, ran the Sharpie around the edges and attached it to the card front.

  1. Beautiful and that stamp set is great. I really wish I could by some of the stamps you use, but the duty, shipping and exchange values make it cost prohibitive.
