spring daisies

Hello crafty friends. Having shared one of the newer stamps from Clarity‘s Craft Club yesterday, I’ve dug back into the archive today (otherwise known as my sister’s stash as I’m still staying with her…!) for this fab daisies image from just over a year ago. Sadly, it’s no longer available from Clarity as a back issue.

Anyway, I’ve taken inpiration for this card from a few of the current challenges, not least starting with Make My Monday whose theme is ‘spring daisies’! I took the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the palette from Color Throwdown, which all combined for the ‘spring colours’ theme at The Flower Challenge.

So, no toppers for this one as it’s a one layer card! I stamped the daisies directly onto a 5×5 blank using black Archival ink and shaded them with Pergaliner pencils in the Color Throwdown tones. I scribbled the green watercolour pencil across the base of the daisies to give them ground to sit on and smoothed it out with a waterbrush, before embossing a frame around them with a circle embedder.

I thought it looked a little stark still, so scribbled the lilac pencil onto one fo Clarity’s mix mat, picked the pigment up with a waterbrush and added a wash of colour into the sky behind the daisies. I finished by stamping one of the bijou retro sentiments onto a scrap piece of card, trimmed it down, edged with a Sharpie and glued it into place.

So actually it’s not a truly one layer card, but who’s checking? Anyway, I’ve had a fab day out with my sister and we’re going to craft together a bit more this evening before I head home in the morning! There’ll be another creation to share with you tomorrow…
