Japanese crane

Hello crafty friends. Well, after digging back into the Clarity catalogue for the products on my shows on Friday, I’m back with a early peek at some fab new stamps that are flying in tomorrow from Clarity Crafts – a beautiful set of cranes stamps (I’ll add the link & picture once they’re live on the website). They’re two complimentary sets of crane images, one with the outline, and the second with the infill stamps plus pre-cut masks. I decided to go with just one of the outline cranes for this first card, picking up the ‘birds’ theme from Double D and flowers, animals (I hope the bird counts!) and sentiment from The Paper Players‘ new TicTacToe grid.

No square card today – I’ve gone with an A6 piece of card to start with. I stamped the largest image from Clarity’s SHAC japonica floral panel set across the bottom and up the side and shaded the flowers with Pergaliner pencils. Having added the single crane into the sky, I shaded him in with the pencils (having checked Prof Google to see what the plumage is on a Japanese crane!). Next was to mask him off and use the small clouds mask from the ‘build a scene – landscapes’ set for the sky, lightly brushing ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Ink across it.

I added one of the lovely sentiments from the set (this little scene really does suggest peacful harmony to me) , followed by a mount of Antarctica companion paper and attached the whole piece to a 5×7 card blank.

I heard on the news last week that the blossom season in Japan has been declared officially underway, so the Japonica feels very timely. In contrast, Clarity’s Japan month ends at midnight tomorrow (Monday 31st) so this set will be a final chance for an additional 10% discount with the code JAPAN10. Tune in to watch Barbara on Clarity’s YouTube channel, tomorrow at 2pm for more inspiration with these fabulous birds!

  2. Deborah… absolutely love your cherry blossoms! The crane is a bonus! This week is the peak of cherry blossoms in Washington DC. When I worked there, I made a point to drive through the Washington Mall to see them on my way to work… it was such a nice start to my day. I miss them now that I am in Florida. If you haven’t seen them, check this out. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/te9EoPCROlo Thank you so much for sharing with The Paper Players.
