flower word framer

Hello again – I’m back with a second card, this time one of my demos from the 2pm show on Clarity Social TV using the lovely ‘flower word framer‘ stamp set. I dug back in the archives and found a post on Barbara Gray’s blog from 2014 using this set, which inspired my design and I went with these lovely bright shades from Color Hues and the ‘any occasion ‘ theme at Addicted to stamps

I started with a piece of card cut to A6 size and masked off the centre with Clarity’s blank mask material that I’d cut to fit. I could then repeat stamp the individual pansy image around the edge of the card to give me a border, rotating the stamp each time so it looked a bit more random. I kept the mask material in place and shaded the flowers with yellow & lime green Pergaliner pencils – the reason for that was it meant I could colour a sharp edge on each of the pansies against the mask material, which would have been tricky if I’d done it freehand. After I lifted the central mask off, I stamped the ‘flower framer’ image into the space using black Versafine Clair ink.

The next step was to mask off the outer part of the word, leaving the central O open, using the pre-cut mask that come with the set. I stamped the pansy into the centre then, having cut a little mask for it, I added the leafy stamp too.

It was a simple matter to then shade in the pansy & leaves before mounting the topper on a layer of Waimea Falls companion paper and attaching it to a 5×7 card blank.

There are six different individual flowers in the stamp set, so lots of potential for fab birthday cards with this one!
