SHAC floral panel roses

Hello crafty friends and welcome to Monday! I was inspired to play with the SHAC floral panel roses stamps today while watching Barbara put them through their paces on Clarity Social TV this afternoon. They come with a great A4 oval aperture stencil, which is ideal for creating focal images – so that’s exactly what I did!

I’ve again managed to pull a few challenges together into this card, starting with the single stamped images from The Paper Players. Addicted to CAS are looking for stencils (I’ve used two) and Cardz4Galz are celebrating Mother’s Day (it’s on 30th March here in the UK)

So, I first cut a piece of stencil card to fit on a 6×6 card blank and lined up the aperture stencil on it, using the largest oval. I taped it into position, added the trellis stencil on top and lightly brushed ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide through them, working in from the edge to keep the centre very light. I then stamped the large roses image from the set with black Archival ink and doodled a deckled edge around the stencilled area with a micron pen. I shaded the flowers with Pergaliner pencils – my roses looked a bit grainy, so I used Dorso oil on a blending nib to smooth the colour out.

I found a matching paper for the mount in the companion papers and attached the topper to the 6×6 card blank. The final touch was one of the Pinky Gray greetings stickers, which I edged with a black Sharpie before popping it onto the card front.

A few friends have asked me to make Mother’s Day cards, so there’ll likely be a few more appearing over the coming week!

And in other news, this little blog is five years old today! I started it just after I retired from full time work, planning to post a couple of times a week and it’s grown to a daily event – thanks for coming along on the ride with me!

  3. I love the subtle stencilling behind those flowers Deborah and the line style of those flowers makes them great for a CAS card, with or without a background. Lovely! Thanks for playing along with our Clean and Simple challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

  5. Deborah, you do CAS so well and this card is no exception. Adding to subtle ink blending inside the oval highlights your pretty flowers very nicely. I think the doodling is a fun addition, I wish my drawing was that good! Thanks so much for joining in at the Paper Players!
